I first heard about Dr. Steve from a well-known figure in the UK who had undergone IVF treatment. Knowing their manager, we got the details and decided to speak with Steve. We instantly liked him, and in September, we traveled to Greece for a pre-test. Dr. Steve reassured us, calling it an easy case.
Our first round of IVF was promising—I got pregnant, but sadly, we lost the babies after returning to the UK. Undeterred, we went back for more transfers. When those embryos were also rejected, they conducted further tests but found nothing wrong. I was tested for Crohn’s disease, though it wasn’t fully confirmed. Nevertheless, we proceeded with IVF, adapting my medication accordingly.
I became pregnant with twins, but we lost one around 11-12 weeks. However, we now have a beautiful baby boy. This final round of IVF took place in May last year. Prior to this, I had unsuccessful attempts in the UK, where 16 eggs were retrieved but none were viable. Only one poor-quality embryo was transferred, and it didn’t take.
The difference with the clinic in Greece was remarkable. Unlike the UK, where you see different medical staff each visit, in Greece, I saw the same nurse, doctors, and embryologists consistently. This continuity made a significant difference. The personal connection with the doctors, especially Maria the nurse, made me feel more understood and relaxed. I even stayed in Greece for the first three months of my pregnancy, which helped immensely.
I want to tell other women to never give up. Keep the dream alive, trust the process, and have faith in the doctors who truly have your best interests at heart. Unlike in the UK, where treatment can feel generic, in Greece, the doctors tailored the treatment specifically for me. I received the best care in the best place, and I couldn’t be happier.
